Family Violence Foundations

Duration
3hr

Modes of delivery
Face-to-face or 2x 1.5hr online sessions.

Level
Foundational

Who for
The program is relevant to any organisation, including private companies, sporting clubs, educational institutions or community organisations.
It is designed to provide general information about family violence; skills to better recognise, respond and refer family violence employee disclosures; and inform all employees about current organisational policies and processes.

You will learn
In this training you will learn how to recognise the signs of family violence, offer safe and appropriate responses, and refer or know where to seek useful support.

Additional information
An Australian workplace study in 2011 showed that employees are more likely to disclose to their colleagues rather than their managers; and when they have disclosed family violence to their managers, the vast majority found the response to be not useful.

To address this, we offer an extension of this package for senior leaders who would like to better explore their role in responding to and supporting employees who disclose that they are experiencing or using family violence.

Apply an Intersectional Framework to Family Violence Response

Duration
Two-day training package

Modes of delivery
Face-to-face preferred. Online delivery is available and is spanned across several 2hr sessions.

Level
Moderate to Advanced

Who for
Aims to equip practitioners in assessing and managing family violence risk with consideration to various intersecting forces of oppression and privilege that impact perpetrators and victim survivors in the communities being serviced. By equipping staff with an understanding of these complex ideas, they will better be able to engage with members of the community to explore some of the drivers of family violence and some of the early intervention and prevention strategies.

You will learn
At the end of the program, participants will be better able to:
● Identify, assess, and manage family violence drivers and risk within an intersectional framework
● Implement therapeutic frameworks effectively when working with shame and trauma
● Assess and manage unconscious bias when challenging a violence-condoning narrative with individuals or groups

Additional information
It is expected that participants will already have foundational knowledge of family violence systems, including MARAM practice guidelines, relevant legislation and the broader family violence context. If this is not the case, it is highly recommended that such training is completely via the appropriate channels prior to participation in this program. Talk to our team as we can help to facilitate this for you.

Provide Effective Evidence-based Practice with Family Violence Perpetrators

Duration
Minimum of two days intensive training package

Modes of delivery
Face-to-face preferred. Online delivery is available and is spanned across several 2hr sessions.

Level
Advanced

Who for
It is designed to equip staff in risk assessment and management when working with family violence perpetrators, while maintaining the safety of victim survivors. It is widely understood that staff morale and wellbeing is enhanced when their level of skill meets the complexity of the work being done. This program will add steps to further upskill family violence and other practitioners working in intervention or prevention programs.

You will learn
At the end of this program, participants who are engaging and supporting perpetrators of family violence will be better able to:
 ● Identify, assess and manage perpetrators of family violence
 ● Implement systemic frameworks more broadly in relation to risk assessment and management
 ● Apply evidence-based practice, whilst recognising and challenging violence-condoning narratives

Additional information
We strongly recommend staff supervision whilst completing this training and applying the learning. We are open to discussing the best approach for your teams.

Journey towards Equity and Inclusion

Duration
Series of workshops, internal policy reviews and interactive team activities delivered over a period of time based on how many employees are engaged and your workplace needs.

  • Workshop length = 2hrs each
  • Number of workshops = 6-8
  • Minimum organisational commitment = 3 months

Modes of delivery
Face-to-face preferred. Online delivery is also available.

Level
Tailored to suit the participants – we gauge this via our discussions with people leaders in your organisation.

Who for
It is designed to equip staff at every level of the organisation with a deeper understanding of what various forms of social injustice mean – this can focus on race, gender or an overview of equity and inclusion in general.

We look at biases and microaggressions and how they impact people differently. We also explore personal agency and ‘Respons-Ability’ for effecting organisational change; and finding ways to creating safety, equity and equal opportunities at work.

The program is suitable and tailored for private companies, not-for-profit organisations and government bodies. It is designed and delivered by a team of expert facilitators and trainers in every state and territory across Australia.

You will learn
At the end of this program, participants and organisations will be better able to:

  • examine the self and our own privileges
  • have the conversation in mixed identity environments.
  • uplift organisational “respons-ability” to drive genuine action in becoming equitable, inclusive and just.
  • bridge inequity and gaps in recruitment and other systemic processes.
  • reflect on the diversity across all tiers of the organisation and how to advance progress and innovation.

Additional information
We strongly recommend staff support and debriefing whilst completing this training and applying the learning. We are open to discussing the best approach for your teams, acknowledging that there will be varying lived experiences of injustice across teams.
